Canada’s COVID-19 hospitalizations still sharply rising amid Omicron-driven wave: Dr. Tam
Chief Public Health Officer Dr. Theresa Tam said on Friday that although there are early indicators suggesting Canada has reached its peak of COVID-19 cases in the Omicron-driven fifth-wave, daily hospitalization numbers are still “rising steeply.” “Although there is a degree of underestimation due to current testing policies, the seven-day average of close to 27,000 cases reported daily as of Jan. 19 shows continuing high rates of infection,” she said.
