Belmont may soon be home to another celebrity.

A children’s comedy show recently cast 10-year-old Addison Jones, who attends fifth grade at Belmont Central Elementary and lives in Belmont with her parents, Heather Sherrill and Shim Jones.

Addison auditioned for seasons four and five of the show Go Iguanas! in July and landed a spot on the show.

Go Iguanas! is set at an international boarding school, according to IMDb.com. The cast began filming season four on Friday at the Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resort in Orlando, Florida.

Seasons one through three of the show are already streaming through Premiere, a family-friendly production company and streaming service launched by director and producer Michael Palance. Like Netflix, Premiere films and produces its own shows.

Though she earned a black belt from 360 Taekwondo Academy and takes hip hop lessons at Dance Specialties in Belmont, its Addison’s first time acting on a film set. Heather never thought about signing her daughter up for auditions until she came across a social media advertisement for Premiere.

On a whim, Heather signed Addison up without realizing she would flourish in her auditions. Preparing for filming has been an experience like no other, Heather said.

“It’s taken off,” Heather said. “He (Palance) was blown away by her. You could just tell.”

Addison will play Mindy Maplewood – a student who attends a special school for spies.

“She’s this popular girl at school, and she gets a lot of invitations to different spy groups,” Addison said.

“They slip her invitations and she has to decide which one she ends up with,” Heather elaborated.

Because of COVID-19 restrictions, Addison and the other nine cast members read scripts together via Zoom. Friday was the first time she worked on the show in-person.

“I’m more excited [than nervous]. I’m only nervous about the big cameras,” Addison said.

Premiere has helped thousands of children from across the globe begin their careers within the entertainment industry by improving their confidence and public speaking skills since 2009.

Premiere stars -- including American actress Skai Jackson from Dancing with the Stars and the Disney Channel’s Jessie -- have moved on to appear on the Disney Channel, ABC Family, Nickelodeon and more, according to the service’s website.

Addison and Heather hope Addison’s spot on Go Iguanas! leads to a successful acting career.

“If she likes it and another agency picks her up to do commercials and other TV shows, we’re going to do it,” Heather said. “I want this to be her big break.”

Addison turns 11 on Christmas Eve. After filming wraps up this week, she plans to celebrate with her parents at Magic Kingdom Park at Disney World.
