Freeland outlines ‘absurdity’ of steel tariffs on sidelines of NATO meeting in D.C.

Foreign Minister Chrystia Freeland spoke to reporters on Thursday before a NATO meeting in D.C. about the U.S. imposed steel and aluminum tariffs against Canada, outlining the "illegal" and "unjustified" use of them as a barrier to completing the final steps to the USCMA deal, saying that the notion that Canada could pose a national security threat to the U.S. underscores the "absurdity" of them, but is hopeful that the tariffs will be lifted soon.
