A new home warranty provider that has been active in Alberta for more than 45 years has a new face at the helm.

Scott Hamilton, 41, has been promoted to president and CEO of the Alberta New Home Warranty Program (ANHWP) Group of Companies, following Lori Topp’s departure in June.

“It’s an honour to assume leadership of a well-tenured and beloved organization that has such a significant responsibility to keep improving and innovating the experience for our homeowners, our members, our students and our employees,” says Hamilton, who has an MBA from the Haskayne School of Business at the University of Calgary.

Hamilton is a residential industry veteran, spending more than 10 years with Hopewell Residential, in various capacities, including director of marketing and customer experience.

Prior to his promotion, he served as the ANHWP’s vice-president, marketing, customer experience.

“The ANHWP board is excited to have Scott lead our group into a new era of growth, working collaboratively with our policyholders, members and students to create and execute upon an ambitious vision for the future,” says Stewart McAndrews, chairman of the board.

Hamilton’s goal is to embrace opportunities while building on the company’s history and strategic vision.

“The work we do is meaningful, and we need to evolve as an organization to best embrace the change around us and in what we do to continue to grow,” he says. “Our mission is to empower the best homeownership experience, and to do that we need to accelerate our digital transformation, build on our offering to meet a growing list of homeowner needs, work with our partners to expand our footprint across Canada, and continue to build on the Professional Home Builders Institute’s (PHBI) national leadership position in delivering education to the Canadian residential construction industry.”

PHBI is the education arm within the ANHWP Group of Companies.

ANHWP has more than 450 builder and renovator members across the province. The group of companies’ services and products include, but are not limited to, new home warranty insurance, renovation warranty insurance, pre-possession protection, a claims review process and mediation. It also offers educational resources, technical support and training courses.

“A home is one of the most important and emotionally invested purchases someone can make, and we don’t take that lightly,” says Hamilton.

“We’re here alongside our outstanding builder members to make sure that homeowners have peace of mind in their home purchase, and to reduce the stress that comes with owning a home so they can focus on the enjoyment of simply living in that home.”
