The shine has come off Goldie nightclub in Toronto.

The owner, manager and corporate owner of the venue, near King St. W. and Portland St., face the charge of failing to comply with an order made during a declared emergency.

Toronto Police alleged Goldie was operating indoors on the night of June 26 in direct violation of provisions in the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act (EMCPA).

Authorities claim the club has no outdoor patio or seating area, no permit for outdoor service, people were allowed to enter the building through the back of the club. According to the allegations, there was no enforcement of social distancing and between 125 to 150 people were seen inside.

The province has imposed limits which allow no more than 10 people allowed in a social bubble during Phase 2 of its re-opening plan. The police investigation has been forwarded to the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario.
