Toronto firefighters had to extricate the driver of the tanker, fire officials said. The driver had minor lacerations and was taken to hospital.

Fire officials said the tractor trailer was leaking diesel fuel but the tanker loaded with fuel was not leaking. The fuel from the tanker had to be transferred to another tanker, officials added.

The circumstances of how the crash occurred are not yet known.
