Women's Vote
On April 5, 1917, women in British Columbia finally won the right to vote after 34 years of demanding it.
Among the leading proponents were garment worker Helena Gutteridge, journalist Helen Gregory MacGill, Evlyn Farris, the founder of the university women’s club and Cecelia Spofford, the founder and leader of the woman’s Christian temperance union.
