Officials say no confirmed cases of COVID-19 variants detected in First Nations communities on reserve

Dr. Tom Wong, chief medical officer of public health for Indigenous Services Canada, said on Wednesday that so far no confirmed cases of any of the COVID-19 virus variants have been detected in First Nations communities on reserve, but cautioned it was "just a matter of time." He added as of Feb. 23, a total of 103,771 vaccine doses were administered reaching 34 doses per 100 adults in First Nations on reserves, Inuit Nunangat and territories.
