PM Boris Johnson Faces Calls To Resign As He Apologizes For Downing Street Lockdown Party
U.K. Prime Minister Boris Johnson is under fire for hosting a "boozy" party at his Downing Street residence and office in May 2020 as the rest of Britain was locked down in their homes. After repeatedly downplaying the event as a work meeting, Johnson apologized for the rule-breaking gathering. "I know the rage they feel with me and with the government I lead when they think that in Downing Street itself the rules are not being properly followed by the people who make rules," the prime minister said in parliament Wednesday. Johnson apologized for the party, but said he believed it was “a work event” and that's why he attended.
