A fight broke out between spectators at the Winnipeg Jets game against Colorado Avalanche just as the teams were coming out for the third period of the 5-0 Jets win on Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2022.

Two spectators wearing what appeared to be Avalanche jerseys were escorted away by Winnipeg Police after fellow fans moved to separate the combatants.

A 54-year-old fan in a Jets jersey had to be assisted after intervening to assist security when the male suspect assaulted him, police said. The assault caused the victim to lose his balance and fall back onto the ice surface boards, causing a laceration to his head. The victim was taken to hospital, where he was treated for his injury.

Fans got Jets players and on-ice officials to bring over towels to help out the bleeding victim who waved to the crowd as they were being helped up the stairs. A 34-year-old man from Winnipeg and a 28-year-old woman from The Pas were charged with assault and resisting a peace officer. Handout video.
