Nick Carter countersues sexual battery accuser

Shannon Ruth sued the Backstreet Boys member in December, claiming he sexually assaulted her when she was underage in 2001. TMZ reports that Carter filed a countersuit on Feb. 2. He claims that Ruth has been coached by Jerome and Melissa Schuman as part of a years-long conspiracy to extort him. "As our counterclaim sets out in detail, Nick has been the target of a malicious and long-running conspiracy." Michael Holtz, Nick Carter's attorney, via TMZ. "He has never done the outrageous things of which he has been accused."
