Hundreds gather in solidarity with Mi'kmaq fishers

An ongoing dispute over Indigenous treaty rights prompted hundreds of supporters to gather in Halifax on Sunday. Fierce clashes outside fish plants in southwestern Nova Scotia last week culminated in a weekend fire that destroyed a lobster pound used to store the catch of Mi’kmaq fishers. The attacks prompted a show of solidarity as hundreds of people gathered at Grand Parade Square to show support for Mi’kmaq fishers.
