Police catch motorist doing 115mph on the A55

A driver was caught by traffic cops doing 115mph on the A55 today.

The motorist was stopped by the police at around 1.30pm on the A55 expressway near Llangefni, in Anglesey.

The person has been reported for summons.

North Wales Police Roads Policing Unit tweeted about the incident on Twitter, with a photograph of the speed gauge read out displaying the speed-which is 45mph over the limit.

The traffic cop Tweeted: "Driver caught on A55 nr Llangefni just now. Reported for summons. We're asking all road users to do their bit to reduce the strain on the NHS/Emergency Svs during #COVID19 by taking extra care & sticking to speed limits if they're out on essential journeys, Slow down."

Police forces have warned that some drivers are using empty roads as a racetrack.

The Metropolitan Police recently clocked one driver doing 134mph in a 40mph zone, while Greater Manchester Police recorded a driver doing 129mph on the M62.
