Tallulah Willis "resented" looking like her dad Bruce Willis when she was growing up.

In a recent Instagram post, the 27-year-old candidly discussed her battle with body dysmorphia and confessed that her confidence took a blow when she was constantly told looked nothing like her mother, Demi Moore.

"I punished myself for not looking like my mom, after being told I was BW (Bruce Willis) twin since birth - I resented the resemblance as I believed wholly my “masculine” face was the sole reason for my unlovability - FALSE!" she wrote. "I was/am inherently valuable and worthy, at any life stage, at any size, with any hairdo! (As are you).”

The actress also shared a series of snaps, in which she can be seen closely resembling her father when she was younger, but now in her late 20s, she looks like her mother.

She noted that it took her too long to realise that "ageing happens without your control, time passes, and your face can change”.

Tallulah is the youngest of Bruce and Demi's children - they also share daughters Rumer, 32, and Scout, 29.

She also offered her followers some advice on how to deal with body dysmorphic disorder (BDD), and said she covers the mirrors in her house when she feels triggered.

"We all want to feel good, and confident but when it creeps into a deeper, spookier place where it begins to devour your essence bit by bit, ask for help. Do not feel ashamed, this is not a 'stupid, vain issue' this is a genuine psychological pain and I see you so clearly and witness the validity in your struggle," Tallulah shared.

In addition, Demi commented on her daughter's post and wrote: "Beautifully realized Beautifully expressed Beautiful to witness."
