Our thoughts: Originally released on the Wii U, this game has now been upgraded for the Switch, Xbox One and Playstation consoles, bringing it to the attention of a whole league of new fans. The sandbox gameplay is impeccable, and the newly added two-player mode features tons of improvements to quality of life, such as letting any lost players teleport to their friend on the other side of the screen with a press of a button. Brilliant!

LEGO DC Super-Villains

Available On: Xbox One, Playstation 4, and Nintendo Switch

Pros:

Playing as iconic villains is great fun

Original, humorous story written in collaboration with DC Comics promises tons of laughs

Cons:

Some of the wider levels can be quite confusing on where the objective is

Our thoughts: Ever wondered what it's like to be the bad guy in your favourite comics? Well, now you can, thanks to LEGO DC Super-Villains! The original story is a huge draw for any comics fan, involving a parallel universe Justice League with secret secondary motives - you'll be hooked in before you know it!

LEGO Marvel Superheroes

Pros:

With so many characters included, your favourite Marvel hero is almost sure to appear

It's great to see so many iconic locations (including Asgard and the X-Mansion!)

Cons:

The amount of characters and lore can be intimidating for non-Marvel buffs

Our thoughts: All the excitement of having superpowers and teaming up with other heroes is crammed into this wonderful game, bursting with fun! If you're already familiar with any aspect of the Marvel universe, then you'll have a great time picking out tiny little references or even being introduced to your future favourite comics character in this top-notch game.

The LEGO Movie 2 Videogame

Pros:

Enhanced combos add new combat options for all characters

Fan-favourite characters are a great draw for fans of the films

Cons:

Slightly less character variety than other options

Our thoughts: Upon release, the LEGO Movie took the world by storm, and this game features more and more of its iconic humour and setting. There's so much to do that you'll have a hard time getting bored, especially given the number of fun unlockables on offer.

LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens

Pros:

Multi-Builds offer exciting new possibilities

New and improved cover system makes battles against the First Order feel strategic

Cons:

Only covers the events of one out of the most recent three movies

Our thoughts: If you've got a Star Wars buff in your life who doesn't already own this game, do them a favour and pick them up a copy because it's perfect for fans of the series. Play as iconic characters and tear your way across a galaxy far, far away in a brilliant recreation of the film's events.
