The Goonies is getting a 4K re-release with an exclusive steelbook to pre-order from July 19

Get ready to go back to the '80s and do the truffle shuffle all over again, as classic kids movie The Goonies is being re-released on Ultra HD Blu-ray disc with a 4k remaster.

The movie, directed by Superman's Richard Donner and starring a young Sean Astin from The Lord of the Rings AND Josh Brolin from Avengers: Endgame, follows a group of kids who discover a treasure map pointing the treasure of legendary pirate One-Eyed Willy.

Zavvi has got an exclusive steelbook edition that looks very nice indeed, with an extra slipcover for their Red Carpet subscribers. Those will be available to pre-order on Sunday (July 19).

The regular 4K edition will be available from other retailers like Amazon for £20, with all the 4K options being released on August 31.

The cast and the film's writer Chris Columbus (who later directed the first two Harry Potter movies) recently took part in a virtual reunion hosted by Frozen star Josh Gad, who has been keeping us entertained (and raising money for charities) with these nostalgic groupings during the current pandemic.

And for even more, Sean Astin recently shared a clip of himself at the tender age of 13, auditioning for The Goonies... where he forgot his lines!
