Harry Potter star Matthew Lewis stunned fans by revealing he'd tied the knot to his American girlfriend in a lavish Italian ceremony.

The actor, best known for playing hapless Neville Longbottom in the Harry Potter films, broke the happy news to fans via his Twitter account.

Matthew joked that he'd been forced to miss seeing the Arctic Monkeys in concert because Angela Jones had made him get married instead.

'Fuming,' he told fans.

But the handsome star didn't look at all annoyed in the wedding snap he shared to his social media page, which showed him beaming as he took a look at his new bride.

While Angela was looking effortlessly radiant in her lace gown as she walked beside her hubby carrying her bouquet of white roses.

Fans immediately rushed to share their congratulations to the happy couple.

"I’m so so happy for you! you both look so good together" praised one of Matthew's followers.

While another joked the bride's bouquet should have been made from gillyweed, in a nod to the books penned by JK Rowling.

Matthew was last seen appearing in ITV drama Girlfriends, penned by Kate Mellor.

The role saw hunky Matthew shedding off his child star image for good, as he stripped off to reveal his rippling abs in one raunchy scene.

Looking worlds away from his Neville Longbottom days, Matthew's army of loyal fans couldn't believe his change in appearance.

The show featured a mini Potter reunion, as Miranda Richardson (Reeta Skeeter) and Madame Hooch (Zoe Wanamaker) also bagged roles.
