Bowe Bergdahl Will Plead Guilty to Desertion Charges

According to the Associated Press, U.S. Army Sergeant Bowe Bergdahl, who was held captive by the Taliban in Afghanistan for five years after abandoning his post, is expected to plead guilty to desertion and misbehavior before the enemy. Bergdahl, who was released in a prisoner swap for five Taliban detainees held by the United States in 2014, would have faced a maximum of life in prison if found guilty of endangerment. His trial at Fort Bragg, North Carolina is scheduled to begin on October 23.
