EU Leaders Refuse Trade Talks, But Offer May Warm Words

On Friday, leaders of the European Union shunned Theresa May's summit plea to negotiate a post-Brexit deal, while offering her warm words and a gesture suggesting talks in the future. With talks on the proposed divorce package deadlocked mainly over a refusal by May to detail how much she is willing to pay of the around 60 billion euros that Brussels has demanded, she restated that the final figure would reflect the future relationship that is negotiated. May went on to urge EU leaders to move ahead and open talks on a post-Brexit free trade pact.
