How many episodes are in The Chosen season 2 on Prime Video?

The Chosen on Amazon Prime Video follows the life of Jesus (played by Jonathan Roumie) as seen through of eyes of those that knew him. The first season premiered back in 2019 and now after a two-year wait fans are once again enjoying the show. How many episodes will be in season two?

The Chosen began in 2017 as a TV movie, before becoming the TV series its fans follow today.

After last being seen on screen in 2019, the biblical epic will continue to explore the life and impact of Jesus' life.

Season two of The Chosen has already aired its first three episodes, with it premiering on Easter Sunday, April 4.

The second and third episodes were released back-to-back on April 13, with Amazon Prime continuing its tradition of giving shows a staggered release.

How many episodes are in season two

Season one had nine total episodes, which also includes the original TV movie from 2017.

The second season will have eight episodes this time around, with each episode dropping weekly on the streaming platform.

The show is unique in how it releases episodes, dropping new episodes live on YouTube and the show's companion app as soon as it has been edited.

Amazon Prime Video also airs each episode as soon as they are ready.

So far the new season has had an unusual release schedule following the second and third episodes dropping simultaneously.

Episode four is expected to release sometime in May 2021.

The original series creator Dallas Jenkins is back for the new season.

Jenkins is best known for his work on The Resurrection of Gavin Stone and What If.

Speaking to, Jenkins said: "A multiseason show allows us to dig far deeper and take our time to develop the stories, the characters and the backstories."

Joining star Jonathan Roumie (known for Ballers and the video game Death Stranding) as Jesus is a diverse cast of familiar faces in season two.

The cast includes Shahar Isaac (Madam Secretary) as Simon Peter, Noah James (Shameless) as Andrew, and Paras Patel (Nashville) as Matthew.

Also in the cast are George Harrison Xanthis (Les Norton) as John and Elizabeth Tabish (Panic) as Mary Magdalene.

There has been no confirmation on a third season, with most of season two still to air.

The Chosen began as a crowdfunded media project and went on to be the largest project of its type and still is to this day.
