Kiwi singer Lorde thrilled fans on Wednesday evening when she went makeup free during a late night TV appearance.

The 24-year-old, whose real name is Ella Marija Lani Yelich-O'Connor, skipped the face paint and revealed her porcelain complexion while appearing on Late Night With Seth Meyers.

The singer was dressed to the nines and stunned in a yellow plunging silk dress.

The Royals singer, who is due to release her highly-anticipated new album Solar Power next month, showed off her décolletage by going braless under the slinky frock.

The gown featured a tie over the bust and a small cut out over her stomach.

She teamed the look with a chic pair of yellow and orange strappy stilettos and wore her long locks out and over her shoulders.

For the performance she changed into a pink and white smock dress.

Meanwhile, the songstress has explained why she recently quit social media, despite having millions of followers and a large and dedicated fan base.

She told Zane Lowe on Apple Music that she wants to be herself and can't really do that on social media.

'I realised I was trying to come up with a funny Instagram caption and do a photo of me that looked cool that I would hope would get a certain amount of likes,' Lorde said.

'It sounds obvious, but that's cooked. For me, I'm not a girl that gets a bunch of likes. I'm who I am, and I've got to lean into that.'

She added that as she gets older she doesn't use social media as much.
