So, our ears definitely prick up whenever we hear about new tips and tricks that can help us save a bit of our hard-earned cash at Christmas.

Enter Instagram-famous cook Miguel Barclay of @onepoundmeals, aka 'the £1 chef', who has shared a post on preparing Christmas lunch for (you guessed it) just £1 per portion.

Now, we don't know about you, but the prospect of being able to feed a family of eight for under a tenner is pretty appealing – especially given that the price of Christmas dinner has reportedly risen by 16% since last year.

While Barclay's version of Christmas lunch doesn't include turkey, it does offer up all the festive trimmings you'd expect, from cranberry sauce to stuffing and potatoes.

On his post, which has been viewed over 22,000 times since he shared it earlier this week, Barclay writes: 'Coming up with a £1 Christmas dinner was difficult, but the trick with this dish was to put extra effort into transforming a humble chicken leg into something way more impressive.'

And, handily for us, Barclay has shared the exact ingredients he used (including the supermarkets he bought them at), so we can recreate the whole budget meal ourselves.

Of course, it would involve multiple trips to different supermarkets, including Aldi, Asda and Lidl, but we're sure you'll agree it's worth it!
