Kate Middleton is known for her love of tennis and she is such good friends with a Wimbledon star that she kissed him on the cheek three times. The Duchess of Cambridge is the patron of a number of important sporting organisations, such as the Rugby Football Union and the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club.

She is a frequent visitor to Wimbledon every year and is often seen in the royal box getting into the games. She is also good friends with many athletes including Roger Federer.

The Swiss tennis player is known to be good friends with the Duchess and even attended her sister Pippa's wedding to James Matthews in 2017. During the same year, photographs emerged of Kate congratulating Federer on his success at Wimbledon during a reception while Prince William watched on.

World-class tennis player Federer is thought to be one of The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's inner circle of celebrity friends. It even surfaced that Federer gave Prince George a private tennis lesson at Kate’s parents’ home in Bucklebury. He later described George as a “sweet boy” and that he was already showing great skills as a player, My London reports.

Back in 2017, after his success at Wimbledon, The Duchess stunned royal fans when she was pictured giving the player three kisses in congratulations of his historic win. Federer then shook hands with Prince William. Roger Federer isn't the only celebrity who could be counted as a close friend of the couple.

As for Prince William, he has a link to Elton John as Princess Diana was a good friend of the singer. Actor Eddie Redmayne has also spoken about his school days with William at Eton saying: "I did play rugby with Prince William. I always felt a bit sorry for him because basically any school you played, all they wanted to do was tackle Prince William and they could say, 'I tackled Prince William'."
