Kourtney Kardashian has revealed her “skin obsession” is LED face masks, which she has been using over the last few years.

The Keeping Up With the Kardashians star shared a selfie of her sitting with the DMH Aesthetics Led Light Shield Mask on her face on her Instagram account.

The 41-year-old reality star swears by the skincare gadget to help her achieve glowing skin, and minimise any signs of ageing.

But she also loves this mask in particular because she can still multitask at the same time, thanks to the clear panel, as well as the in-built glasses, and the fact the design doesn’t have to be plugged in.

What is an LED lightmask?

An LED mask is a non-invasive light therapy suitable for all skin types, which is made up of three Near-Infrared lights - not UV rays - that help to support the ageing process to combat wrinkles, hydration and firmness.

Explaining the impact of the beauty tool on Kardashian’s lifestyle website Poosh, it states: “LED stands for light-emitting diode, meaning it pushes the energy and power of the light in one direction—at your skin.

“The colours we see, whether it’s red light or blue light, are produced by different wavelengths. Red has a longer wavelength than blue light.”

The LED Light Shield Mask, which Kardashian relies on, has a number of settings, all of which have different benefits.

The red light treated the outer layer of the skin - known as the epidermis - as the light stimulates collagen, which helps to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

While the blue light is best suited for those with acne-prone skin, as the light targets sebaceous oil glands to destroy any bacteria that causes breakouts, as well as reduce scarring.

There is also an amber light, which protects the skin and reduces the appearance of brown age spots and melasma.

But Kardashian mostly relies on the red and blue settings. The site reads: “Kourt loves the red and blue light the most. Since she’s added this ritual to her self-care routine, it’s been life-changing for her skin.”

Kris Jenner’s oldest daughter is not the only celebrity to use LED face masks, as Victoria Beckham, January Jones, Kate Hudson and Chrissy Teigen are among other famous faces to use the prop.
