The little tubes not only have the ability to frame and open up your eyes; having defined eyelashes also gives life to your face instantly.

So when a makeup artist revealed her top tip to making your mascara work even harder, we were all (eyes and) ears.

Amanda Bell, International Makeup Artist at Pixi, revealed that you should always bend your mascara wand before applying product to your lashes.

She says, 'Bending the mascara wand will give lift and help to separate the lashes.'

Now, you obviously can't bend the wand that comes with every mascara quite so easily, so, Amanda recommends purchasing a pack of disposable wands.

First, Amanda applies a lengthening one to achieve long lashes. She then follows up with a volumising mascara to add definition and drama.

She adds, 'Take off some mascara with a tissue before applying mascara to your lower lashes,' because we all know too well just how annoying it can be to smudge under your eyes…
