A London man has won a legal victory against Apple after one of the company's 'geniuses' wiped all his honeymoon photos from his phone.

Deric White, 68, took his iPhone 5 in for repair at Apple's flagship Regent Street branch in December last year, after receiving a series of text messages saying the phone was faulty.

Staff member Igor Andre took the phone into the back of the shop and then gave it back, saying the problem was 'sorted'. But Mr White later discovered that all his pictures, contacts and videos had been wiped from the phone.

He says Mr Andrew offered to back up the data on the phone - but only after everything had been wiped.

"My life was saved on that phone. I lost my favourite video of a giant tortoise biting my hand on honeymoon in the Seychelles," he tells the Sun.

"My wife was in tears and I started crying when I realised what had gone."

Apple denied that it owed Mr White anything, saying that he had 'not demonstrated how he suffered any loss'.
