Poundland launches home delivery trials enabling customers to shop for bargains online

Aside from our beloved Primark, if there’s one store's shelves we’d love to browse online, it has to be Poundland.

The High Street staple is one of our go-to shops when it comes to bargain hunting and from daily toiletries to decorative home items, DIY tools and even clothing, Poundland stocks a wide variety of items at super cheap prices.

And now, at last, the discount retailer is trialling sales online with home delivery.

While the service isn't available to the public just yet, Poundland are trialling the home delivery service with their 18,000 lucky staff members and selected guests. Their new online fulfilment centre in Cannock, Staffordshire has been operating since February so we’re hoping it won’t be much longer until they open the service up to the general public.

There will be over 2,000 products available to order from the website and the move could give their future sales a huge boost.

A spokesperson for delivery service ParcelHero explained: "Poundland has belatedly woken up and smelled its discounted coffee."

"The pandemic has taken its toll on our town centres and there’s no going back. Our latest research shows 17,500 chain stores have closed forever since Covid hit the UK and 46% of shoppers told us they will never return to their former High Street spending habits.

‘High Street pure play retailers such as Poundland, Primark and B&M must join the revolution or be lost along the way."

The launch of this pilot service is just one part of Poundland's exciting transformation plan, which will also see them offering customers new ranges and services that enable them to do more of their day-to-day shopping at the bargain store.

Click and collect will also reportedly be an option as part of the chain's new digital presence strategy, which they have been building since July last year.

Now if that doesn’t get you excited, we don’t know what will.

We look forward to filling our virtual baskets with many £1 items in the near future.
