If Ivan Sunjic wasn’t loved by Birmingham City fans before he , he converted a few that day.

Any remaining sceptics would have been swept away by both the tenacious and technical brilliance of his display in the victory over Middlesbrough last time out.

In front of a global television audience Sunjic was perpetual motion personified and while some see him as successor to Barry Ferguson, others want to build the team around the keynote signing.

And he is already being immortalised among the Blues ’ faithful who have composed a song that will gladden the hearts of his family on one hand - likening him to Croatian legend Luka Modric - and embarrass them on the other.

In an interview with BirminghamLive, Sunjic was asked about THAT song and its anatomical references.

“I have heard the song the fans sing, it’s funny,” Sunjic laughs. “Sometimes when people see me in the centre and they sing that it’s a little bit awkward but it’s fine.

“I guess it’s a sign they have taken me to their hearts, the fans are amazing, especially at home and when we play away they always fill the stadium.

“My mum and dad know about it, they also think it’s funny, I have explained to them a little bit about the fans. I don’t mind it, that’s normal.

“I have settled very quickly, I am happy with that, I know the language and it was easy for me to adapt quickly.

“I always watched the Premier League since I was a child, for me that’s the best league in the world and I always wanted to play in England.

“For the offence, so many games, the atmosphere is perfect, nothing like in Croatia, that’s why I came here.”

Sunjic has started ten of Blues' 11 Championship games since his £6.3million transfer from Dinamo Zagreb.

Look out for our fuil-legnth feature with Sunjic which will run later this week as he discusses his move to Blues, his phone conversations with Pep Clotet and what he thinks about his team-mates.
