Great British Bake Off finalist Katie Lyon has a new career after launching her own baby business. The 34-year-old almost won the hit Channel 4 show in 2017 but went on to keep baking as a hobby rather than turning it into a career.

She is set to run her own Bloom Baby classes - a gentle multi-sensory baby development and massage class for younger babies. She invested in the franchise in March after having attended sessions at another location with her son.

Katie said: "It was back in 2017 when I was on the show. I even made it to the final, and from time to time, people recognise me when I’m out and about. After the show, I think I was a bit ‘baked out’

"I had done an intensive stint baking on the show, and I definitely needed a break from it. I like variety so think I got bored with doing the same thing so much.

"In lockdown, I started baking bread again because I had spare time on my hands and really enjoyed it. I still can’t stand cake decorating, though! Now I have a nine-month-old, I barely have time to make toast. I cook for my baby and that’s about it! I was certainly looking for my next opportunity!"

She added: "As I prepare to welcome new mums and dads to my sessions later this year, I really hope it won’t be long before I’m known for another reason – bringing Bloom Baby Classes to Knutsford and the surrounding areas.

"Having my little boy last year made me realise just how important classes like Bloom Baby are for your little one’s development. Not many of my friends already had babies, so creating my own community at classes was a real lifeline. Little was I to know that it would become a business investment opportunity too!”

Classes launch this September starting in Knutsford and additional classes will launch in Winsford, Northwich and surrounding areas in the coming months. For more information visit
