Man critical after window fall as air ambulance lands on Pype Hayes Park in Erdington

A man is in a critical condition after falling from a window.

Three paramedic crews - including the Midlands Air Ambulance - rushed to Woodlands Farm Road in Erdington .

The air ambulance landed on Pype Hayes Park opposite Woodlands Farm Road shortly before 10am on Wednesday, May 15.

West Midlands Ambulance Service confirmed medics treated a patient - believed to be a pensioner - who had fallen.

"We were called to Woodlands Farm Road at 9.52am to reports of a patient who had fallen from height," said a spokesman.

"We sent one ambulance, a paramedic support officer and the Midlands Air Ambulance from Cosford to the scene.

"Crews discovered a man who was in a serious condition and required specialist trauma care at the scene.

"The man was taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital via land ambulance and in a serious condition."

West Midlands Police also assisted paramedic colleagues as officers were dispatched to the scene following a 999 call.

"Police were called to Woodlands Farm Road just before 10am this morning to a report of a man falling out of a window," a spokesman said.

"There was no police action required."

Officers confirmed the fall appeared to be an accident.

Woodlands Farm Road is situated off Eachelhurst Road, opposite Pype Hayes Park between Erdington and Walmley.
