An elderly woman has been injured after being mauled by TWENTY travellers dogs in Walsall.

Yesterday we reported that an encampment of up to 50 vehicles had arrived in Wood End Road, opposite the Longhorn pub.

And this morning (Tuesday) a woman, aged in her 80s, has been bitten in the leg.

Walsall travellers: Residents ‘at breaking point’, Parliament told

Disgusted Paddock Councillor Rose Martin told the Walsall Advertiser : "Elderly residents in their 80s walked to the shops at about 11.30am through Wood End and have been attacked by about 20 dogs. Travellers told them they were trespassing.

"My elderly resident’s leg has been bitten. She's been treated by the chemist and told to go straight to A & E for jab. Too traumatised at the moment so will go to the doctors later. So much for care in the community!"

The St Matthew’s policing team Tweeted earlier today that officers are issuing an eviction notice to the encampment.

The Tweet reads: "Working with @WalsallCouncil and @DelvesWMP this afternoon to assist in the issue of notice to leave the site of the unlawful encampment in Wood End."
