Paul O'Grady asks for help as he welcomes new addition to family

Paul O'Grady has welcomed a new addition to his family this weekend and asked for help from his fans to name her.

Any fan of Paul will know of the love he has for animals so it will come as no surprise to find out he shares his home with a multitude of pets including a number of alpacas. Taking to Instagram, the 67-year-old shared the news that one of his furry friends had given birth.

The For the Love of Dogs presenter posed with the new cria as he asked his fans for help. He captioned the post: "One of my alpacas gave birth this morning. Here she is 10 minutes after she popped out. No name yet Any suggestions? She’s got my legs. #alpaca #cria."

Former EastEnders actress, Cheryl Ferguson, asked Paul to name the newborn after her. She said: "Oh my she’s beautiful … can you name one after me ?? Chezza the alpaca? Hope you’re good my lovely one xxx"

Kat Slater actress, Jessie Wallace, also suggested her own name as she wrote: "Jessie!" followed by a loveheart. Corrie's Catherine Tyldesley added: "Oh my GOD!! She’s beautiful!!!!! Sandy! Love that suggestion! X"

Paul later announced the name he had chosen. He shared a second image of him hugging and kissing the baby alpaca as he wrote: "I’ve decided on Flo after the little girl in my kids book. She’s a beauty. #alpaca."

The Birkenhead-born TV personality is a huge lover of animals and also lives with his menagerie of pigs, sheep, chickens, goats, and owls. He also has four dogs.

When adding his alpacas to his home, he took to Instagram, where he wrote: "The latest addition to the gang. La Verne, Patty and Maxine - The Alpaca Sisters.

"I haven’t heard them sing yet but they can hum and whistle and all 3 of them are pregnant. La Verne has a tendency to spit...#alpaca."
