A former X Factor star has revealed how he starved himself in a bid to lose weight at The Extreme Diet Hotel.

Liam Halewood, 32 , has previously appeared on E4 Bodyfixers, who completely transformed his appearance after he was frequently compared to Alan Carr.

But the Allerton-born drag artist was still unhappy with the way he looked, so decided to appear on new Channel 4 show The Extreme Diet Hotel to lose weight, after suffering with an under-active thyroid.

X Factor contestant dropped four stone and spent a GRAND on botox to become 'fabulous'

The Extreme Diet Hotel is run by Russian Galia Grainger, with participants attending the "Slimmeria" bootcamp for a week, surviving on 300 kcal a day, while burning 2,000 kcal through tough physical activity.

Slimmers are woken by a bell at 7am and then put through gruelling walks and fitness classes throughout the day,

Liam said: "I decided to go on the show to further my transformation. I felt like I'd come a long way, but wanted to kick start my weight loss so thought the show would be perfect.

"I suffer from an under-active thyroid and just before the show I'd been on a cruise where I just ate rubbish and drank alcohol while sunning myself.

"With my condition I knew I needed to start looking after myself better, so the show came at a perfect time."

Caberet singer Liam had his phone taken off him for the duration of the show and says he struggled to cope with the tough regime.

He said: "I've got quite a large social media following, so I found it difficult not to have contact with the outside world.

"The woman who runs the hotel - Galia - is terrifying, she used to be bigger but lost weight and now wants to help others lose it too, but her methods are extreme.

"By the third day I had hit rock bottom, the food was disgusting and there wasn't enough of it, for breakfast we had hot water and lemon and a sliver of apple - before heading out on a 10k walk.

"There was no carbs, protein or sugar so I just stopped eating and it felt like hell on earth.

"I can't actually say how much weight I lost - until the show airs - but I was the biggest loser there and my weight loss was considerable."

As soon as he left the hotel and ate a "proper meal" Liam instantly put on three pounds - showing the diet is tough to sustain.

But since then Liam has continued to follow a healthy lifestyle and is set to appear in panto this Christmas in Bradford.
