Boris Johnson statement in full: PM 'surprised and disappointed' at revelations in Sue Gray report
Boris Johnson is making a statement in the Commons after Downing Street published Sue Gray’s damning partygate report throwing his leadership into doubt.The 59-page document includes details of 16 boozy events across Whitehall and in Downing Street in breach of Covid laws.It shows photographs from Lee Cain’s lockdown leaving party in November 2020 at which the Prime Minister gave a toast in front of a table strewn with half empty alcohol bottles.Pictures from Boris Johnson’s surprise birthday party in June 2020 were also published in the document. Mr Johnson, his wife Carrie and Chancellor Rishi Sunak were all fined £50 for attending the event during the first national lockdown.
