A person has died after a fire broke out in a block of flats in West Kensington.

London Fire Brigade (LFB) was called to the scene in North End Road shortly before 3pm on Thursday.

Firefighters arrived to find a sixth-floor flat ablaze, and entering the property found someone inside it.

They were tragically pronounced dead at the scene.

The fire was under control by shortly after 4pm. An LFB spokesperson said: “Half of a flat on the sixth floor was damaged.”

The cause of the fire is not yet known but an investigation is underway.
