Mason Greenwood has been voted the ICGT player of the tournament after firing United to a 1-0 win against Real Madrid in the final.

The 16-year-old scored three goals along the way as Ricky Sbragia's side won the prestigious youth tournament in the Netherlands.

Remarkably, United’s defence kept clean sheets in all five tournament matches - beating Uitgeest, Palmeiras, Red Bull Brasil and Madrid in the process.

But it was Greenwood who was presented with an individual trophy after the final and it is the latest milestone for the youngster, who has enjoyed a remarkable season with the academy.

The striker scored 16 goals and created six more as United won the Premier League north title after bouncing back from a serious injury.

Manchester United's playing style could change with the help of this man

Greenwood only missed out on the chance to represent England in the UEFA European under-17 championships because he was busy preparing for his GCSEs.

And former academy coach Clayton Blackmore believes he is destined for big things.

"We don't know how good he is going to get. He's still growing," he previously told MEN Sport.

"He's great on the ball and very good with both feet. He's the first person I've seen that takes penalties and free-kicks with his wrong foot. I've never come across anyone like that!

"He's got a great chance."

Greenwood's team-mates, Ro-Shaun Williams, Callum Gribbin and Tahith Chong, were also picked in the team of the tournament alongside the striker.
