Liz Truss declines to name occasion when she challenged Gulf state on human rights

Foreign Secretary Liz Truss declined to criticise Saudi Arabia, as she defended British links to the state by stressing that the world is not “perfect”. Questioned by Labour MP Chris Bryant, she repeatedly declined to name a specific human rights issue she has raised with the Gulf states. Appearing at a meeting of the Foreign Affairs Committee on Tuesday, she said she had raised human rights issues personally with Gulf state leaders.
