The Moment An Undersea Volcano Erupted Causing A Tsunami In Tonga
Satellite images taken by a Japanese weather satellite showed the massive scale of Saturday's undersea volcanic eruption in the Pacific that sent tsunami waves to the island nation of Tonga and sparked evacuation warnings from Chile to Japan.The tsunami threat began to recede Sunday, while the extent of damage to Tonga remained unclear.The images taken by Himawari-8, a satellite operated by the Japan Meteorological Agency, showed the spectacular eruption that took place Saturday evening, with a plume of ash, steam and gas rising like a mushroom above the blue Pacific waters.
