The average Instagram user spends 32 minutes per day scrolling through the app - a considerable amount of time.

There are a number of reasons we are continually drawn back in - from liking photos posted by your friends, to seeing what celebrities are up to and for the gorgeous photography on the app.

Instagram is, obviously, known for its array of stunning photography - posting photos to Instagram has even become a career to many.

This is why Photobox decided to launch its inaugural Photobox Instagram Photography Awards, to find some of the best images on the app.

Having received over 180,000 entries - 5,000 of them being of dogs - Photobox has now whittled these down to a shortlist and the winner will be announced on October 3.

Rory Scott of Photobox said in a statement: “From snapping our supper to capturing our canine friends, most of us like to test our everyday photography skills on Instagram. But being such a popular site, we often miss out on some of the truly stunning photography on our feeds."
