Calls for a lockdown exit strategy are mounting amid a backlash over the Government's response to the coronavirus pandemic.

Reports in the Sunday Times claimed the Government missed a series of opportunities to try and lessen the impact of the outbreak in February and March, with Boris Johnson accused of not attending multiple Cobra meetings.

The PM is currently recuperating at Chequers, where he is said to have had some contact with Ministers, after being hospitalised with Covid-19 and a Number 10 spokesman said: “The Prime Minister has been at the helm of the response to this, providing leadership during this hugely challenging period for the whole nation.”

It comes amid mass criticism over personal protective equipment supplies, with frontline staff fearing for their safety as they're left to give care despite dwindling supplies of kit.
