Ana Carla Maza: Cuban cellist brings rock energy to life and music
Cuban cellist Ana Carla Maza sees every song as a journey. Born in Cuba to jazz musician parents, her innovative style mixes classical jazz with Latin American rhythms. Her latest album "Bahia" – named after the neighborhood in Havana where she grew up – transports listeners through Latin America and her memories. Ahead of her concert at the Paris Jazz Festival, she spoke to FRANCE 24's Alison Sargent about the joy and energy she brings to her music, and why it's important for her to produce her own albums and support other female artists.
