Plastic waste: ‘We can only tackle the problem if we work together’

We sleep on it, eat on it and increasingly depend on it: We’re talking about plastic. When it was first discovered it was described as fantastic, but its overuse is creating a growing continent of extremely slowly dissolving waste. With a million plastic bottles sold every minute, something needs to be done. The President of Plastic Recyclers Europe, Ton Emans, explains why plastic isn’t necessarily a bad thing – as long as it is recyclable. This remains the big challenge.
