£800k fine over baby's death is ‘clear message’ patient safety must be priority, says mother
Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust will be sentenced at Nottingham Magistrates' Court on Friday after pleading guilty to two charges relating to the death of a baby in 2019. The Care Quality Commission prosecuted the trust - who pleaded guilty - after mistakes it admitted meant a mother, Sarah Andrews, and her baby, Wynter Andrews, did not receive safe care and treatment in its maternity services. Wynter died shortly after her birth in September 2019 at the trust’s Queens Medical Centre in Nottingham. Footage shows the Trust chief executive Anthony May (wearing glasses) arriving at court, as well as Wynter's parents Sarah and Gary.
