A terrified mum was forced to lock herself and her children in a public toilet to escape a man who allegedly sexually assaulted her on the street, she claims.

Megan Hollimould, 21, said she was walking down the road with her two sons, aged one and three, when a man ‘stopped her in her tracks’ and asked her for a hug.

The mum said no, insisted she was not a ‘huggy person’ and told him ‘sorry, I’ve got to go’.

But when Megan tried to walk towards a Lidl supermarket in Grimsby, the stranger followed her, she claimed.

Megan said: ‘He kept asking me for a hug or a kiss and just got more and more agitated.

‘Then he started touching my chest, bum and hips. I told him to please not touch me and with that, he started grabbing hold of the pushchair. It was awful.

‘This happened continuously until we got to Lidl. People were just driving past and watching.’

When the family got to Lidl, Megan said she locked her and the boys in a toilet cubicle while the stranger allegedly banged on the door trying to get in.

Megan called a friend who then phoned the police and a 26-year-old was arrested on suspicion of sexual assault.

The traumatised mum said: ‘It’s just made me feel really scared. I haven’t left the house since it happened.’

Megan decided to waive her automatic right to anonymity as an alleged sexual assault victim in order to speak out about what has happened to her.

The police are investigating and have appealed to any witnesses with information to come forward.
