Welcome to the latest edition of the City Is Ours daily round-up, where we take a look at some of the Manchester City stories you might have missed.

Former City winger Shaun Wright-Phillips has advised Raheem Sterling to resist leaving the club to stick around and fight for his spot.

Meanwhile, Pep Guardiola and Jose Mourinho are reportedly set to lock horns once again, but this time over a highly-rated Bundesliga midfielder.

That supposed target would be cast as the new Fernandinho, but could the next Gabriel Jesus also be on the cards?

Intrigued? Well, read on to find out more...

Shaun seeks Sterling stay

Despite having a brilliant summer with England, Sterling has found it tough to break into City 's starting XI this term.

Players such as Jesus, Jack Grealish, Phil Foden and Riyad Mahrez are all arguably ahead of him in the pecking order for the wide attacking roles.

Even though he’s recently stated he’d be open to a move away from the Etihad Stadium, Sterling has been advised to think again by another tricky winger who used to delight City fans.

Blues favourite Wright-Phillips urged Sterling to not only remain in Manchester but also to sign a new contract and get back to his very best.

He told the Sun: “This season he has not played anywhere near as much as previous years. I am sure his time will come again. He just needs a goal to go in, however it comes, to get him firing again.

“You just need to look at what he’s done in six years and more for the club to see what he’s capable of. He's made a massive contribution and I still feel like he’s got a huge part to play for City in the future.

“Maybe the contract thing is hanging over him. I would like to see him extend his contract and end the questions over his future. I know he’s said he’d like to play abroad at some point but I don’t think there’s anywhere better to play football than the Premier League.”

Wise words from the former City winger, but it remains to be seen where Sterling will be playing his football in the years to come. Even though he’s scored 115 goals for the club, he’s only managed two in his last 28 appearances. Food for thought.

Pep and Jose 'chasing the same man'

Over the past two decades, very few rivalries have stood the test of time as much as Pep Guardiola and Jose Mourinho.

Two of the most decorated managers in the game and they are set to go head-to-head yet again, but this time it's for a player. It’s been reported by La Gazzetta Dello Sport that Manchester City are ready to challenge for Borussia Monchengladbach’s Denis Zakaria.

The report suggested that even though no team made a move for the midfielder in the summer just gone, that may change at the end of this season because the 24-year-old’s contract runs out in June.

It is believed that Mourinho's Roma also want the Switzerland international, but the fact City are now "ready to challenge", changes everything from the Serie A club's perspective.

Looks like Pep has won again!

City could bolster Brazillian attack

We all know City were unsuccessful in their pursuit of a striker this season and it would come as no surprise if Guardiola went back into the market to bolster his squad in that department.

Even though City have been electric this season without a recognised centre-forward, Brazilian journalist Juliano Machado has reported the Blues are interested in Yuri Alberto.

Alberto has been tipped for a big-money move to Europe after some stellar performances for Internacional. The 20-year-old has emerged as a target after he broke onto the scene in the Brazillian Serie A last season.

Manchester City have had a solid history when it comes to Brazillian recruits, with the likes of Jesus, Fernandinho and Ederson all key parts of an ongoing golden era.
