Liverpool have already solved one transfer dilemma thanks to 'special talent' Jurgen Klopp loves

Liverpool have plenty to think about before the summer transfer window - but one place within the squad is almost certainly already taken care of.

With departures more than possible in terms of attacking options at Jurgen Klopp's disposal - those who are back-up rather than those who are first-choice - there will be spaces to fill.

Finding another Diogo Jota-type player could hold the key for one of those spots, but for another, perhaps the only other gap that will need taking care of in forward areas, the returning Harvey Elliott will be ready.

"He will come in handy if, assuming that Xherdan Shaqiri and Divock Origi move on this summer and there are clubs who want to buy them, Elliott can take that role," said Joel Rabinowitz on the Liverpool.com podcast.

"Elliott has a lot of similar skillsets to Shaqiri - a left-footed player coming from that right-hand side, but is a little bit quicker.

"He can make a real impact and you saw last season that his game intelligence is really high - he is not showboating but is a really smart player.

"His numbers in the Championship are unbelievable and at the moment, you would like to see him kept rather than being out on loan again."

"The plan was not to loan him out at all this season but they expected Shaqiri to leave," added David Lynch.

"He had offers but decided he would be better served staying at Liverpool, but if he had left, Elliott would have taken those minutes.

"That spot is probably going to open up this summer and they believe he can take on that supporting role in the same way that Curtis Jones took on Adam Lallana’s minutes this season.

"Jones has ended up doing quite a lot more because of the injuries, but that was the plan last summer, and that will be the plan this summer with Shaqiri and Elliott.

"It is not going to be regular first-team minutes - we don’t see Shaqiri that often - but that will be the way that they want to play it.

"There is no doubt that Liverpool think they have a special talent on their hands."
