Milan are said to be worried about the prospect of losing Suso because of his release clause.

According to reports in Italy, the club are concerned about the player’s situation, with the current release clause in his contract set at €40 million, what could be considered a bargain in the current market.

The Spaniard attracted interest from Chelsea, Spurs and his former side Liverpool over the summer when it looked like he could be moved on from the San Siro.

There was a short period of time over the summer where it appeared the Italians could be forced into a sale due to financial fair play reasons but following a takeover at the club that is no longer the case.

Milan remain keen to tie him down to a new long-term deal, but securing Champions League football may play a key role in convincing him to stay at the club.
