Everton target Unai Nunez has changed agent as he seeks a January move away from Athletic Bilbao, according to reports.

Earlier this week reports emerged linking Everton with a move for the Spanish defender, with the report claiming that Nunez was high on the club’s wish list as they look to sign a centre-back once the transfer window reopens.

The 22-year old has fallen down the pecking order at Bilbao, with manager Gaizka Garitano preferring the central defensive combination of Inigo Martinez and Yeray.

Despite this, Nunez still holds a strong reputation as one of the better young talents in Europe, with Arsenal also considering a January move for the Spain international.

Now AS (via Sport Witness) have added to the story, claiming that Nunez is unhappy at Bilbao, and that he wants to move to play more regular football.

The report claims that the defender “waits for an exit” amid speculation linking him with a Premier League move.

While there has yet to be any movement on the end of the reported interested parties, Nunez has moved to sign with a new agency, a usual move for players looking to force an exit.

AS also report that Nunez has not contacted Bilbao about making a move, neither has he made his desire to leave clear to the club.

Nunez has a buy-out clause of €30million, and Everton will be expected to match that fee in order to sign the Spaniard.

This seems to be a really positive story from Everton’s perspective. If the club are indeed interested in Nunez, they have been gifted an ideal scenario in which they now need to pursue the defender.

Arsenal are a significant threat, because they would also be able to offer immediate first-team action. Hopefully though, Marcel Brands would be able to work his magic and bring the defender to Goodison Park.
