Jean-Kevin Augustin would have been a perfect summer addition for Crystal Palace.

According to L’Equipe, via Sport Witness, the Eagles were keen on acquiring the RB Leipzig forward’s signature during the transfer window, potentially as a replacement for Wilfried Zaha.

Everton were also interested in bringing in Augustin, but ended up signing Moise Kean from Juventus instead.

Ultimately, the youngster didn’t want to move to England, which put paid to the Premier League sides’ chances of capturing him.

Jordan Ayew was Palace’s only significant attacking addition, joining from Swansea City for £2.5 million.

Augustin has built a big reputation during his time at Leipzig, scoring 20 goals over the last two seasons in Germany.

Although the 22-year-old is used predominantly as a striker, he could potentially thrive in wide areas, if used there.

He would have made a big difference at Selhurst Park, but then again, losing Zaha would have been a huge blow.

As it turns out, the Ivorian ended up staying put, having not been allowed to join Everton.

They will now need him to fire again instead of Augustin, as well as Ayew, who looks set to lead the line for the Eagles this season.
