Celtic are thought to be keen on signing Imbabura SC’s holding midfielder Sergio Quintero, according to Ecuadorian outlet El Diario, relayed in an article by The Boot Room

The report claims that the Hoops, along with El Nacional and Emelec, are keen on the midfielder, who is currently representing Ecuador in the Under-20 World Cup.

Quintero scored for his country on Monday in a 3-1 win over Uruguay and looks set to be involved against USA in the quarter-final on Saturday.

The 20-year-old is known predominantly as a holding midfielder who is also capable of playing further forward in a ball playing role.

Celtic boss Neil Lennon looks set to add numerous additions to his squad this summer, with plenty of names linked already with a move to Celtic Park under the age of 25.

It appears as if that is the avenue the Hoops will go down this summer, and Quintero certainly fits that mould at the age of 20, so there may well be more substance to the initial reports which could see Celtic launch an offer over the coming weeks.
